THE HENNERY
Frequently asked questions

Will my chickens be stressed by the experience?

Chickens are very resilient, and can be transported in a simple cardboard box with ventilation holes.   Thereafter, having been transferred to their own private coop and alone with their friends, they will adjust very quickly to their new surroundings.

Can you collect and return my chickens?

Yes, we can arrange for collection and return.

Will my chickens be fed their usual diet?

Food is included in the daily cost. We can provide layers pellets, mixed corn and any surplus veggies.  Just let us know what you usually feed them.  If your birds have any special dietary requirements, we will do our best to accommodate these.  Fresh water will be provided on a daily basis.

How often will you check on my chickens?

We carry out regular checks throughout the day to make sure all is well.  The birds will be let down into their run at around 7.00am and shut into the coop for the night at dusk.

Will my chickens be near other chickens?

The coops are spaced apart to prevent any potential stressful or competitive situations.  They will probably be able to hear each other, though!

What will happen to my chickens' eggs?

We can keep them for you!  Just let us know if you would like us to, but please bear in mind that egg production may decrease temporarily with the change in circumstances (although in our experience, they keep on laying).

What if my chickens become unwell?

We can take them to our local vet.  Alternatively, we can telephone you to discuss the situation, should it occur.

Can I visit The Hennery before I book my birds in?

Yes,visits are welcome, although we would ask you to contact us first.

Why isn't The Hennery's address included on the website?

This is for security reasons.  We like to know when we will get visitors so that we can secure our own animals and be available to show people around and answer any questions.

 Please phone with any queries.
